English Language Institute - Program Information
The English Language Institute (ELI) was established in 2002 to meet the needs of students whose native language is not English. We offer beginning, intermediate and advanced level courses, and we are a non-degree academic English as a Second Language Program.
The English Language Institute at Columbus State University Continuing Education is in Columbus, Georgia which is just 100 miles southwest of Atlanta. Columbus State University is a proud member of the University System of Georgia, enrolling more than 8,200 students in a wide variety of degree programs, from online degrees to doctorates in education. Completion of the ELI program opens the door for studying at an English speaking university.
Classes are offered year round. Two semesters run 16 weeks each with 18 hours of instruction per week. Day classes meet Monday-Friday, 9am to 1pm. Evening classes meet Monday - Thursday, 6pm to 9pm. Summer Intensive Sessions run 4 weeks each with 12 hours of instruction per week.
International F-1 Visa students are required to attend as full-time non-degree students and qualify for university student benefit which include housing and meal plans.
